A collection of works by American photographers Larry Sultan and Mike Mandel. Larry Sultan has researched the subject of American suburban residents and has published masterpieces such as "The Valley," a series about the porn industry, and "Pictures From Home." Mike Mandel has worked on numerous unique works, including "The Baseball Photographer Trading Cards," which captures portraits of photographers dressed as baseball players and uses the walls of public facilities. This book is a re-release version of the classic masterpiece "EVIDENCE," which was first published in 1977, when two classmates at the San Francisco University of Art. Photos used in documentary documents and fact-based certificates - in other words, "evidence" were picked out from photo archives totaling 2 million, including general companies, US government agencies, educational institutions, medical institutions, research institutes, police, and NASA. The archives are a number of outstanding figures, including Bechtel Corporation, one of the world's largest construction companies in the United States, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Jet Propulsion Research Institute, which is involved in the research and development and operation of NASA's unmanned spacecraft, the United States Department of Home Affairs, and the Stanford Research Institute (now SRI International). From these, 59 were selected using their own interpretations and edited them, separated from the original context, and published in 1977 with limited copies. This work, which has long been established as a form of a great conceptual, classic yet original photographic book, has been republished as a replica by Sandra Phillips (honorary curator of the Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco), and a new work that has not been included in the original, with the addition of a new essay by D.A.P. In 2017, when the 1977 and 2004 editions became rare, the 2004 D.A.P. edition was reprinted with the hope that readers who love photo books would acquire this timeless masterpiece.
