A collection of works by African-American artist Kerry James Marshall. It was published in conjunction with an exhibition held at David Zwirner in London in 2018. This book features unprecedented new works by the author, one of the most important living American painters. In this work, the author clearly addresses art history, race, and gender, while broadening his horizons to both concrete and non-complete works. At the same time, it makes us rethink how art works are perceived worldwide and in the art market. The author, including replicas of auction catalogs, abstract paintings, and everyday scenes, suggests that while the artist moves back and forth between the subjects of the painting itself, there is a criticism of history and what the dominant white people have built.
Additionally, essays by American author, photographer and art historian Teju Cole and art critic and editor Hal Foster have been created with the author's outstanding perspectives and the author's "Untitled (Underpainting)The complex layered works such as " (2018) are key to interpreting their philosophy of art.
