A collection of works by British sculptor Tony Cragg. This comprehensive book contains the author's sculptures and works he has drawn on paper. It was published in conjunction with an exhibition held at The Gallery at Windsor in Vero Beach, Florida from February 25th to May 19th, 2023.
This book features a conversation between the author and Hans Ulrich Obrist, artistic director of London's Serpentine Gallery, and a detailed essay by art historian and curator Jon Wood.
「Not only did Tony Cragg change our view of sculpture, but he also changed his view and view of the material world more widely."John Wood
The author explored the complex relationships between the natural world and the artificial world, creating innovative and distinctive sculpture language. As a self-proclaimed "radical materialists," the author has been interested in the effects of the internal structure of matter that appear on the exterior surfaces of objects. The artist's works, inspired by land art and performance art in the UK, are inspired by interest in macros, microstructures and industrial materials and processes found in nature.
The author participated in the 43rd Venice Biennale as a representative of the UK in 1988, and in the same year he received the Turner Prize, awarded to contemporary art artists organized by the British Tate.
