During the economic boom of the 1950s, zippers (fasteners) began to be used on a variety of items. At the time, the fleece fabric knitted with a loop knitting machine had a firm texture, but lacked elasticity, so elasticity was supplemented by adding gussets to the front or both front and back. Alongside these improvements, zippers quickly became popular. The collared design is efficiently made from one piece, rather than two pieces like a shirt, and is finished to create a natural wrinkle after washing. This Lot.621 is based on the reference, with the sleeves of the Lot.611 Half Zip Sweat Shirt cut off. The circular fleece fabric is knitted slowly and slowly using a loop knitting machine. Loop knitting machines were brought to Japan during the Taisho era, and are currently in operation only in Wakayama Prefecture, the only place in the world. Although it is an inefficient machine that can only knit one meter per hour, by knitting slowly, the fabric is finished with just the right amount of unevenness and a unique texture, as if it contains air. By mixing this fabric with top-dyed cotton, we created a heathered look. By adding Rongarit processing to the product, it creates a distressed look reminiscent of sunburn and discoloration due to age. The zipper pull with the Art Deco veining that was common in the 1920s is an original creation.
